I own several websites, a couple which were hosted by Network Solutions. Today I cancelled the accounts (sizable, in the hundreds of dollars) in protest to their suspending the website of film maker Geert Wilder’s movie on Islam. Hot Air has the details, but we need to band together - those who abhor censorship - and let NWS that we will not tolerate the censorship of this movie. There is no clear TOS violation and in fact NWS hosts many different sites including those which deal with gambling and porn.
Turkey’s Islamist Media Boasts West’s Alliance With PM Erdogan, AKP
Statements made by Western officials in defense of PM Erdogan and the AKP, and against Turkey’s judiciary that allegedly stem from their concern for “democracy” are being reported daily in the front pages of Turkey’s pro-AKP, Islamist dailies under thick headlines such as “EU lashes out at AK Party ban bid”.
Following are some of the statements that adorn the front pages of Islamist dailies such as Zaman, Yeni Safak, Vakit, Sabah, Star, Bugun:
Olli Rehn, EU Commissioner of Enlargement: "In a normal European democracy, political issues are debated in parliament and decided in the ballot box, not in the courtroom. It is difficult to see that this lawsuit respects the democratic principles of a normal European society."
Cumhuriyet reported that medical attendants, most of whom wear Islamic headscarves, that were trained for eight months refused to shake hands with the men who handed them their certificates. Questions are raised about how those female medical attendants, who don’t shake hands with men, will take care of male patients. Health organizations said that sexual discrimination related to religious beliefs is becoming more common. There are reports on covered female doctors, nurses and medical attendants who have refused to take care of male patients, causing serious health problems.
Increasing number of private hospitals advertise “Birth Services By Women Doctors”. The increasing number of covered women in public workplaces, such as hospitals, creates concerns about how such gender discrimination will affect daily life.

Following the detention of 11 opponents of AKP government - among them the prominent writer Ilhan Selcuk of Cumhuriyet, Workers’ Party chairman Dogu Perincek and former Istanbul University president Prof. Kemal Alemdaroglu - media organizations, Turkish NGO’s and politicians of opposition parties are slamming the move which they describe as an attempt by AKP government to silence and intimidate the voices of opposition, and an effort to divert the attention from the indictment filed for closing down of AKP.
Crowds of protesters are gathering in front of Cumhuriyet’s and Workers’ Party’s headquarters.

Leader of the main opposition [CHP] Deniz Baykal reacted to the detentions of Turkey’s prominent, senior journalist/writer Ilhan Selcuk, former Istanbul University president and one of the country’s best known surgeons Prof. Kemal Alemdaroglu, and Dogu Perincek the leader of a political party, among other media personalities.
In a televised speech, Baykal said, “The AKP has already completed the process of partisan appointments and it is reaping the benefits of having its people in all the ranks of the state. Now it is building its own state within the state. This process is not consistent with democracy and the rule of law. It is not acceptable in democracies for the ruling party to abuse the power of being in government in order to intimidate respectable intellectuals. Turkey is being dragged into very dangerous clashes. This cannot go on like this. There are, there must be, limits not to be crossed”. Baykal also said that the country’s Constitution has turned into an ordinary document that gets amended according to the daily changing needs of the AKP.

One month after the spectacular dismantling of what is called the"Belliraj" network in Morocco, the details and implications of this event are coming out little by little. The Croissant has compiled a full dossier, drawing on fifty open source articles. The full dossier is available to subscribers.
Here is an excerpt:
About 35 suspects were arrested on February 18. They lived in Morocco: Casablanca, Rabat, Fez, Marrakech, Kenitra, Tangiers, Nador, Oujda. There are also Moroccans living in Belgium; those individuals were key in the traffic of arms seized by the police. About 10 of the 35 suspects arrested in Morocco were allegedly known in Belgium, in the organized crime circle. They come from all social classes, but most of them are from middle to upper classes: a doctor of pharmacy, a police captain, storekeepers, the head of a telecommunications company, a hotel manager, teachers. Nothing indicates that they are poor, or that they decided to take revenge on their country.

In a recent article in this column the importance of the Kosovo precedent was discussed, from the point view of the international law as it has been exercised for the past generations. Certainly the new situation arising from the unilateral Kosovo declaration of independence shapes a new reality that will have multitude and mostly negative consequences for countless nations across the globe. It is important also to illuminate around the existence of the Kosovo issue as a demographic one, shaped by the expansion of one group of people (Albanian Muslims) versus the other one (Serbian Christians). Moreover the existence of facts on the ground as resulting from the population growth of the former, signify a real precedent for other regions in the world.
In 1913 when Kosovo & Metojia became a part of the Serbian state the population of Christians exceeded 50% , whilst the Albanians counted around 350,000 souls, approximately 40%, the rest being occupied by Roma, Bosniaks, Turks and people of mixed origin. A generation later in 1948, after WW2 that resulted in the killings of 20,000 Serbs and the expulsion of some other 150,000 by the Nazi Albanian collaborators, the balance tilted in favor of the Albanians. On top of that, the Tito administration willingly opened up the border up to 1949 and accepted 150,000 illegal immigrants in order to deliberately change the population makeup of the province as a counter-measure against the Serbs. Tito’s motto was “For a strong Yugoslavia we need a weak Serbia”.

UN personnel feared for their lives in Kosovo while some of the judges presiding over the Hague Tribunal for former Yugoslavia were in fear from Kosovo Albanians that have committed atrocities against Serbs and that is why very few cases of Kosovo Albanian war criminals have been prosecuted, writes Carla Del Ponte, former Chief Prosecutor of the UN Tribunal, in her new book.
"I am sure that some of the top UNMIK and even KFOR officials feared for their lives and the lives of their missions’ members," says Del Ponte.
Del Ponte's new book "The Hunt" details her work as the chief war crimes prosecutor for former Yugoslavia.

BELGRADE, Serbia-Serbia's war crimes prosecutor is looking into reports that dozens of Serbs captured by rebels during the war in Kosovo were killed so their organs could be trafficked, the prosecutor's office said Friday.
The Serbian prosecutor's office said it received "informal statements" from investigators at the U.N. tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands, that dozens of Serbs imprisoned by Kosovo Albanian rebels were taken to neighboring Albania in 1999 and killed so their organs could be harvested and sold to international traffickers.
Bruno Vekaric, the Serbian prosecutor's spokesman, said later on B92 radio that Serbian war crimes investigators have also received their own information about alleged organ trafficking, but not enough for a court case. Vekaric said Serb investigators also received reports suggesting there might be mass graves in Albania containing the bodies of the Serb victims.
Kosovo has been run by the U.N. and NATO since 1999. It declared independence from Serbia last month.
Many analysts in the world today wonder why the Qatari TV station Al-Jazeera has suddenly stopped its almost daily attacks on Saudi Arabia. Mamoun Fandy's book
(Un)Civil War of Words sheds light on, and indeed predicts, this development, by showing that Al-Jazeera functions primarily as an arm of the Qatari government, and as a tool for advancing Qatar's policies vis-à-vis its rivals in the region.
The book, which looks at contemporary Arab media - print, TV and radio - argues that despite the proliferation of competing media outlets in the Arab world, the Arab media remain inherently political. That is, these media are operated and controlled by various political, religious, and ethnic forces, which use them to promote their policies and interests. Furthermore, nearly all these media - whether government- or opposition-affiliated - are subject to rigorous oversight and restrictions by the Arab regimes, and many serve primarily as instruments in the external and domestic battles of these regimes.

THREATENED ISRAELIS AND PALESTINIANS DISENCHANTED WITH THE PEACE PROCESS AND SUPPORT FURTHER VIOLENCE
These are the results of the most recent poll conducted jointly by the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the
Center for Policy and Survey Research in Ramallah, between March 12 and 17, 2008.
The weeks preceding the poll were characterized by increased violence between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, with Hamas intensifying its rocket shelling on Israeli civilian communities; an Israeli incursion into Gaza that left more than 130 Palestinians dead; and a shooting attack in
West Jerusalem that led to the death of 8 Israeli religious students. The joint poll examined Israelis and Palestinians’ assessments of the negotiations launched by the
Annapolis conference and are currently going on between Olmert and Abu Mazin. It further examined Israeli and Palestinian attitudes regarding a permanent settlement along the lines of the Saudi (Arab league) plan and Israelis’ attitudes towards a full evacuation of the Golan Heights in return for a complete peace agreement with

CAIRO — The Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams has blasted the greed of the industrialized world in pursuit of oil, power and territory, the Telegraph reported on Monday, March 24.
Individuals live in anxious and acquisitive ways, seizing what they can to provide a security that is bound to dissolve, because they are going to die," Williams said in his Easter Sunday sermon.
"Societies or nations do the same," added the spiritual leader of the world's Anglicans.
"[These societies] assume there will always be enough to meet their desires - enough oil, enough power, enough territory - the same fantasy is at work."

LONDON (AFP) - The number of forced marriages involving young women from Britain being taken abroad to wed is likely far higher than first thought, an official report said Tuesday.
While a government unit investigating forced marriage deals with just 300 cases a year, the true figure could be up to 4,000, the Home Office-funded study into the issue said.
There are 300 inquiries about the issue every year in one town alone, said the report's author Dr. Nazia Khanum, citing figures for Luton, a town with a high immigrant population.
"It's a reasonable assumption that it is the tip of the iceberg," she said, noting that with rape and domestic violence only 10 to 12 percent of cases are thought to be reported.
Sayeeda Warsi, a Muslim member of the House of Lords, said forced marriages should be treated as a criminal offence like domestic violence, to protect young women from ethnic minorities.
"As a society we draw a line in the sand," she told GMTV. "This is not a culturally sensitive issue, this is an abhorrent act which we must stand together on."
Khanum added: "Forced marriage has nothing to do with religion. It is a part of a patriarchal system where parents believe they know what is best for their children."

The German author Henryk M. Broder recently told the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant (12 October) that young Europeans who love freedom, better emigrate. Europe as we know it will no longer exist 20 years from now. Whilst sitting on a terrace in Berlin, Broder pointed to the other customers and the passers-by and said melancholically: “We are watching the world of yesterday.”
Europe is turning Muslim. As Broder is sixty years old he is not going to emigrate himself. “I am too old,” he said. However, he urged young people to get out and “move to Australia or New Zealand. That is the only option they have if they want to avoid the plagues that will turn the old continent uninhabitable.”
The Turkish media has been criticized by German politicians for its reporting of the fire tragedy in Ludwigshafen. Turkish journalist Kerem Caliskan, the European editor of the Hürriyet newspaper, spoke to SPIEGEL ONLINE about these charges and attacked Germany's treatment of its Turkish minority.
SPIEGEL ONLINE: Mr. Caliskan, you graduated from the German School in Istanbul and have translated Brecht poems into Turkish. What did you think when you first heard about the fire in Ludwigshafen?
Kerem Caliskan: I thought: "Oh my God, have they started another fire?" I wasn’t able to sleep the whole night. Of course, the fire could have been caused by a short circuit, a gas canister explosion or an accident. But then there is the statement by the two girls who say they saw someone lighting the fire. If it was arson, then we assume that the German police will investigate it.
A new poll finds that the majority of people of Turkish descent living in the country feel unwelcomed by Germans. A full 78 percent say that Angela Merkel is not their chancellor.
Over half of the Turks living in Germany feel unwelcome in their adopted country, a survey has found. An even larger majority believes that German Chancellor Angela Merkel, of the conservative Christian Democrats (CDU), does not represent them.
According to the survey, conducted by pollster Emnid for the respected weekly newspaper Die Zeit, 58 percent of German-Turks questioned did not feel welcome -- amongst women that feeling was even more pronounced: 68 percent. And over two-thirds, 78 percent, did not believe Merkel's promise that she was also their chancellor. The vast majority of people questioned, nine in 10, called on German society to be more accommodating of the customs of Turkish immigrants.

Some unusual aspects stand out in the German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s four-day official visit to Israel starting Sunday, March 16. One is her arrival with seven of her top ministers, including foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and defense minister Franz Josef Jung. Both will hold bilateral talks with their Israeli counterparts.
Three items of business bring the German chancellor to Israel:
Controversy erupted last weekend when PM Tayyip Erdogan told women to give birth to at least three children, at a gathering to mark Women’s Day. The opposition and especially the women’s organizations strongly criticized the PM for his remarks which they said jeopardize Turkey’s membership in EU, which already is weary of Turkey’s large [71 million] and poorer population.
PM Erdogan’s Islamist rhetoric that children are blessing of Allah, that Allah gives every child his bread, and his rejection of birth control angered many Turks. Turkan Saylan, the chairwoman of an NGO that sponsors education for young girls said that the population figures are already catastrophic and added that presently rural area schools have 60-70 students per class and that about one million girls are not sent to school. Turkey’s working age [age 15-64] group was 66.5 percent in 2007, and 26.4 percent was younger than 15.
The head of the Foundation for Family Planning Yasar Yaser also criticized Erdogan for his remarks and said that rather than calling on women to have more children, he should take care of mothers and children who die of preventable reasons.

PM Erdogan Continues To Target Turkey’s Top Prosecutor, Puts Judiciary And The People Against One Another
AKP leadership is on a campaign against Turkey's Chief Prosecutor, presenting the judiciary as the enemy of the people and of democracy. PM Erdogan spoke to crowds in AKP conventions in Sanliurfa and Mardin today and continued to say that the judiciary’s initiative [to close down AKP] was in fact not against his party, but against the Turkish people that elected it.
First, a clarification. The documents taken from the laptop of FARC senior commander Raul Reyes when Reyes was killed had nothing to do with the arrest of arms merchant Viktor Bout in Thailand.
My sources involved in the operation said the operation was underway months before, and documents were not analyzed by DEA in relation to the Bout sting.
But the 36 pages of documents now made public by the Colombian government do provide a fascinating window into how the FARC, the oldest insurgency in the hemisphere, thinks, operates and views the world.
They show a rebel group that moves millions of dollars across the border for safe-keeping and sets up businesses, but is constantly under pressure from the Colombian military, making communications among the different commanders difficult. It shows they have problems with desertions and morale, and are desperate to change their international image.

Last November, Gilles de Kerchove, the European Union's anti-terror chief, said that al-Qaeda was the biggest threat to Europe. To confirm this, Western intelligence services have recently established operational links between al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and al-Qaeda in The Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) whose goals include striking at the heart of Europe.
Al-Qaeda has not made any secret of its eagerness to target Europe. Indeed, Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda's number two, has repeatedly threatened Europe. In 2007, numerous al-Qaeda-linked plots were foiled in Europe and several cells were dismantled in France, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom. In September, thanks to information provided by US intelligence, Germany arrested three members of an al-Qaeda cell that planned on blowing up the US military base of Ramstein and the Frankfurt airport.

BRUSSELS (AFP)--The E.U. Commission urged Macedonia's political parties Friday to set aside their differences, after an ethnic Albanian party vowed to leave unless Skopje recognizes an independent Kosovo.
"We believe this is the moment for all parties to put aside party interests and work in the spirit of consensus, and engage in continuous dialogue in order to ensure success of the reform process," a spokeswoman said.
"We are following the situation in Skopje as it evolves," she said, adding: "We expect the government to remain focused on the E.U. reform process."

BELGRADE, Mar 15 (IPS) - 'Welcome to the Republic of Kosovo reads a signpost unveiled last week by Kosovan Prime Minister Hashim Thaci at the Merdare crossing between the breakaway territory and Serbia.
"The plaque symbolises the border of the newest state of Kosovo, which divides the past from the future, isolation from the opening of a perspective for integration," Thaci said.
"Recognition of this border by our neighbour Serbia will be significant for recognition of their European future," he added, standing next to the signpost in English, Serbian and Albanian.
But the 100,000 Serbs who live mostly in the north, refuse to become part of the new political reality. In this they are backed by Belgrade.

s Lebanon looks back on a summer of vicious fighting between the army and Fatah al-Islam that left 168 soldiers dead, armed Salafi-jihadist networks continue to operate beyond the ruins of the Nahr al-Bared refugee camp with relative impunity. Contrary to the conventional wisdom among many terrorism analysts, they have never plotted (let alone attempted) to establish an Islamic state in Lebanon. Rather, these Sunni Islamist militants have used "islands of insecurity" in the country as conduits for training and dispatching terrorists to conflict zones around the world (particularly Iraq). Under an informal quid pro quo dating back to the Syrian occupation, most have abstained from destabilizing operations within Lebanon itself in exchange for being left alone. When Fatah al-Islam violated this understanding, it was "excommunicated" by international and local Al-Qaeda affiliates eager to preserve their privileges in Lebanon.

Muslim Sharia law would undermine society if it was introduced in Britain, Conservative leader David Cameron said today.
"I don't believe that by introducing Sharia law, we will make Muslims somehow feel more British - more content with life here and more happy to work for a common good.
"In my view the opposite is the case: I think it would be to head in the wrong direction. The reality is that the introduction of Sharia law for Muslims is actually the logical endpoint of the now discredited doctrine of state multiculturalism instituting, quite literally, a legal apartheid to entrench what is the cultural apartheid in too many parts of our country.
21/2/2008 - Kosovo.... Eurabia...

Swedish and Norwegian authorities cracked down on terror financing on Thursday, arresting six people in what Swedish investigators said were coordinated raids in Stockholm and Oslo.
Three men arrested early Thursday in the Swedish capital were suspected of funneling money to terror organizations in Somalia, Prosecutor Ronnie Jacobsson told The Associated Press.
The men — all Swedish citizens — also faced suspicions of preparing terrorist acts, which Jacobsson said "could consist of financially promoting a terror crime."
Just minutes before the Swedish operation was announced, Norway's police intelligence agency PST said it had arrested three people in separate locations in Oslo on suspicion of financing terror.
It did not reveal their nationalities. Newspaper VG reported on its Web site that they were Somali immigrants, but did not cite its sources.

Elections in Spain
The first TV debate: The PP mentions the immigration problem
Even if there is no substantial development regarding the campaign for the National Parliamentary Elections in Spain, there is plenty of news in these first days of the official campaign. The main one has been the first TV debate between Zapatero and Rajoy. I am rather skeptical about those debates; I have serious doubts that they have ever changed the mind of a meaningful proportion of the electorate. In any case, this has been the most relevant event up to now.
Esther at Islam in Europe has compiled an estimate of the percentage of Muslims in European prisons. Considering the high numbers, especially in Spain and France, and the fact that Muslims are quite often radicalized in prison. This is bad, bad, bad news....
Muslim population in European prisons- IIE
Estimating the percentages of Muslims in prisons across Europe is not simple. In some cases, such as Sweden, collecting such data is illegal. In many cases, the numbers are only estimates.
I linked to my sources, but note that not all sources have the same reliability level. EUMAP - EU Research program, NEWS - mentioned in the news.
Belgium - 16% (12.8% Moroccans, 3.1% Turks) (EUMAP)
Denmark - 20% (NEWS)
England+Wales - 8% (NEWS)
France - 50%-60% (NEWS, NEWS)
Germany - 18% foreigners, lowest estimate for Muslims - 5% (EUMAP)
The Netherlands: 20%, youth prisons - 26% (EUMAP)
Spain - 70% (NEWS)
At first glance it might look like another capitulation to The Beast. An art exhibit in Berlin withdrawn due to the threat of Muslim violence. But the art originated in Denmark, and the artists are unapologetic.
In fact this marks another step in the remarkable turnaround in Denmark. Having had their beneficence thrown in their faces in the original Motoon controversy, seen ongoing rioting at every perceived offence (see this
), seeing the Muslim population vastly over-represented in jail and welfare statistics, the scales rapidly fell from their eyes.
This is in itself progress, especially compared to the rest of the West. But the Danes are now getting tough. In practical ways.

If only more Europeans held opinions like this, and were willing to speak about it openly, and stand up against the Islamization of their countries, perhaps Europe would not be turning into Eurabia, the nation of Dhimmis. High five to this guy for having some common sense, though.

History has been a harsh critic of Neville Chamberlain's decision in 1938 to allow Adolf Hitler to trash the WWI Versailles peace treaty to seize control of and change the borders Europe, first France in the Rhineland, then Czechoslovakia and Poland. President George W. Bush's quick acceptance of the efforts of the Albanians in Kosovo to change the borders of Serbia will also be viewed in history as an appeasement that did not work.
World War II actually began when Adolf Hitler marched a mere 14,500 troops into the Rhineland on March 7, 1936, in violation of the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I and the Locarno Treaty which was signed in 1925 that included the "Rhineland Pact" between Germany, France, Belgium, Britain and Italy. The Rhineland Pact's main provision was an agreement among Germany, France and Belgium end border raids, with Britain and Italy agreeing to guarantee the borders in the event of aggression by any of the other states.

The latest developments on the 17th of February proved once more that the world political environment passes yet another milestone, albeit going backwards towards the era of Empires and feudalism, rather than progressing into an era of peace and security.
Europe in particular fought tens of bitter wars and conflicts in order to become the harbor of stability in Eurasia. Starting from the Treaty of Augsburg in 1555 (cuius regio cius religio) and the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648, Europe managed finally in 1945 through the signing of the UN Chapter and the Helsinki Final Act in 1975; to confirm the sovereignty of the nation state and the absolute denial for border changes. As it can well be understood this no longer holds, and the International Law becomes a peace of paper on which anyone can interpret what he wishes for, leading the world closer to another war that will ultimately lead to the destruction of the human life as we know it.
